WHAT A WONDERFUL SUMMER and still lots of people looking for a last minute Summer Escape. but don't miss out on a Fall Getaway ! Again this year we are surprised of the many last minute bookings. Though we expected more guests compared to last year, we have already by now more than doubled the number of guests. Our wonderful staff is hard working. They are excellent team players, and are always ready to go the extra mile. This year we have added archery and target shooting to our activities. We have gear both for kids and adults. The horseshoe pits, volley ball, tennis and campfire outside Sagebrush Inn are all renewed. In the spring we bought two new horses, Luke and Maggie. They are both beautiful and gentle horses and after some training they are doing very well. Maggie is used as a wrangler horse and Luke is almost ready to bring guests on trail rides.

Newsletter March 2010 Spring is here ! Both the temperature and the birds are telling us. We really enjoy the Blue Birds, The Bald Eagle, The Red Robins and all the other birds’ beautiful songs. Now we are waiting for Bear “Mum” and her cubs, to officially welcome the spring season. As we already have way more bookings this year than last year, we have increased the number of Staff for the upcoming high season. We are happy to have our two “old” wranglers Bill and Dave back again! They will take care of the horses and guide the guests on the spectacular trails in the mountains. Bill and Dave will get help from 4 new wranglers. Also Dave’s entertainment in the evenings and his breakfast cooking are “legendary”. We have hired people from Holland, Germany, Canada, Australia and England. Lindsay Desjarlais has been here the whole winter taking good care of the guests together with some “free lance” employees. She also does the housekeeping, the kitchen work and much more during the Wintertime and beside all this, Lindsay is doing a great work getting people up here. Our carpenter Lars is doing an outstanding job of renovating Harrison House, building new Staff Rooms and much more. This year we have added more “Horseback Adventures” to our program. Among the new activities we offer a “Campride of 2-3 days” and a “Wilderness Ride of 6 nights / 7 days”. We have also added a weekly program where the guests can join as much or as little as they want. You can read more about this on our website www.bigbarranch.com. We are also doing “Teambuilding” and “Leadership Training” as Outwardbound Courses for companies, organizations and will also be offering youth camps. The unique surroundings, along with the amazing and challenging terrain offer a perfect framework for this kind of activity. More of our specials give you a price advantage. See our Early Bird and Spring Specials on our website. We look forward to welcoming you at Big Bar Guest Ranch

Here is what they have experienced To run a business in a remote area is very challenging and special. You have to think different regarding planning of everything from buying groceries to arrange meetings in other part of BC – the distances are a challenge and you have to get used to be “on the road” for quite a long time to get anywhere – we find it charming, but also a kind of waste of important time where you could do business work. Despite the fire and the world recession we have had a good summer season and also in October and November we have some guests. Our main goal this year has been to give the guests an “Experience of a Lifetime”. We have met so many happy people who have inspired us and given us a really good feedback. When living at a Guest Ranch you live as a big family – also together with the guests. During the wintertime we will do a lot of maintenance and renovating of the buildings. The old Harrison House interior will be rebuilt and upgraded. The Sagebrush Inn will have a new outdoor “make-up” and some indoor improvements. To fill the shoulder season our plans are to expand the Big Bar Guest Ranch “Concept” to include Team Building and Leader Training as Steen has worked with this kind of business for many years. We have open all year round and the one you will meet on the phone or on arrival will be Lindsay, who takes good care of our guests together with the other staff. Now we are looking forward to Christmas and New Year where we have made special programs. |
